KEYS TO ADAPTED DESIGN FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

Services

Know the advantages that Additive Manufacturing technologies provide, such as obtaining products adapted to specific needs and functions.

Introduction

In general, the design of a piece is conditioned by the manufacturing process with which it will be obtained. The same occurs with Additive Manufacturing processes, which generally have fewer geometric limitations and allow obtaining geometries that are impossible to obtain with other technologies.

Addressed to

-Technical staff. -People interested in these issues.

Objectives

- Understand the general aspects and requirements that must be taken into account in the design or redesign of a product manufactured with Additive Manufacturing technologies.
- Know how to optimize products that will be manufactured with additive technologies.
- Analyze practical cases or case studies.
- Identify the key factors to assess which parts can be processed with Additive Manufacturing technologies and which ones require geometric modifications to optimize the 3D printing process and make it competitive with traditional technologies.
- Know the criteria for the economic evaluation of Additive Manufacturing processes.

Contents

1. Introduction of the main aspects to take into account to create a design adapted to the manufacturing process. 2. Key factors for part design. Design/redesign methodology oriented to Additive Manufacturing.
3. Adapted design through the use of CAD software. Practical case.
4. Adapted design through the use of software for topological optimization. Practical case.
5. Analysis of practical cases, economic evaluation and proposal of improvements to optimize the process.

Teachers

BLASCO PUCHADES, JOSE RAMON

Since 2002 he has developed his activity linked to research and industrial development, contributing to the implementation of these technologies in companies in multiple sectors (Jewelry, lighting, automotive, habitat, dental, robotics, design, machine tools, furniture, aeronautics, ... ). Since 2004 he has been working as a group coordinator in additive manufacturing and since 2012 in charge of new manufacturing processes for AIDIMME. Very linked to the industrial sector and the implementation of these technologies in the industry. Innovative, committed and enthusiastic person of new technologies.
MARTINEZ CENICEROS, MARIO

Research and development engineer, participating in European and national projects at AIDIMME. Focused on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) and working on various Additive Manufacturing technologies such as EBM, PBF for metals and polymers, SLA, DLP, CFF FFF and LCD. Work to improve additive manufacturing machines due to previous experience in product design, mechanical simulation, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Great connoisseur of the current scenario and evolution of the field of additive manufacturing and its applications. Outgoing and persistent person who faces each challenge as an opportunity for learning and expanding knowledge.
VICENTE MORELL, BERNARDO

Industrial Engineer of the mechanical specialty who began his professional career in the railway sector carrying out design and calculation tasks of structures using finite elements. Since joining AIDIMME as part of the product development team, he has broadened his experience in the field of topological optimization, enhancing the FEM simulation approach towards new manufacturing technologies, participating in research projects in the field of additive manufacturing. Methodical and persistent in his professional life, he is open to suggestions and new challenges.
