"FEDER ELECTROFEM" ELECTROFEM - ADVANCED NANOSTRUCTURED MATERIALS FOR ELECTROCHEMICAL APPLICATIONS FOR ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PURPOSES DESCRIPTION The use of industrial waste as by-products and its recovery in the value chain of producing companies is a great environmental and economic challenge for any company. In this sense, ELECTROFEM's objective is energy recovery, treatment and generation of by-products from industrial, agricultural or biomass discharges. For this, a new generation of nanostructured materials will be developed, more effective and efficient, which through electrochemical or photoelectrochemical techniques and sunlight as a source of clean energy, can ensure the generation of green energy and the recovery of waste effectively. The project will be validated in a prototype cell designed and built for the evaluation of the proposed processes and testing of the generated materials. The project will obtain different materials manufactured using advanced 3D printing systems and superficially modified using electrochemical, chemical and/or thermal techniques to generate new advanced materials with an architecture in two phases, micro and nano structured. These materials will be used as high performance electrochemical or photoelectrochemical electrodes in the different processes proposed in the project. OBJECTIVES The main objective will be to obtain, of the industrial waste that is going to be treated by means of electrochemical or photoelectrochemical techniques using new modified materials, energy recovery or obtaining by-products of said waste in a multifunctional photoelectrochemical cell-prototype.
