"FGVA - DOP0 - SIMULAB"

FGVA ANALYSIS AND SIMULATION OF THE MECHANICAL BEHAVIOR OF SEAT FURNITURE IN USE, TO DEVELOP AN PERFORMANCE METHODOLOGY THAT ALLOWS THE DESIGN OF PRODUCTS THAT PREVENT POSSIBLE FAILURES OR BREAKAGES.

DESCRIPTION

The object of the project is to evaluate the reliability of the generation of simulation models as a predictive tool to be able to reproduce the behavior of seating furniture subjected to different tests included in the current regulations. For this, a study will be carried out on the concordance of the results obtained through digital modeling and those obtained by carrying out the tests in a real environment.

In turn, it is intended to collect all the information from this study through the implementation of a database based on the digitization of the data collection and analysis processes, in order to provide knowledge to the sector about the tests that are carried out on each product, which are the most critical in the current market context and the main causes that produce failures in the furniture during its testing for compliance with the regulations, as well as giving advice on possible solutions to the problems detected and detection of improvements .

Through this methodology, it is intended to provide companies in the sector with a digital tool that allows simulations prior to the manufacture of the product and accompany them throughout the product development process, offering relevant information and advice during the different stages to streamline the prototyping phases. , design, validation and manufacturing and, therefore, manage to reduce development costs and provide a competitive advantage.

OBJECTIVES

Development and validation of digital tools that help companies to manufacture prototypes that meet their expectations of use more easily.

Validation and verification of digital prototypes through simulation that reproduces different static resistance and stability tests, applied to seating furniture and luminaires.

Creation of a digital access platform for designers in which the behavior of the furniture to be evaluated can be simulated from CAD documents against the expected safety according to the corresponding directives. This project is a first contact with the digitalization of structural tests and seeks to compare the results of real tests in the laboratory and the results of a digital simulation, in order to verify the reliability of this new methodology.

For this project, the products are analyzed based on European safety standards where, if the results were satisfactory, the digital platform could be nourished by more tests and cover more types of products.

Acquire information and carry out analysis on failures detected in seating furniture, either in the market or by the consumer, and give advice to companies so that these failures do not reach the market.

Evaluate the adaptation and implementation of these tools in lighting products.

Project Number: 22300015
Grant Agreement: IMAMCA/2023/2
Duration: From 01/01/2023 to 31/12/2023

R&D Line: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION

RESULTS OBTAINED

Año 2023:
During the course of this project, the viability of digital simulation and its correlation with experimental laboratory testing have been tested, with the aim of including the testing of a digital prototype in the design stage. Divergences are found between both test methodologies, both for static load and stability tests. In order to refine and narrow down these divergences, a broader sample is needed that would be fed by new tests, which is why a platform is created.
data exchange system called SIMULAB, where the designer can upload a file of his product and receive a simulation of it in accordance with the regulations that apply to it, in addition to serving at a statistical level to be able to apply corrections to digital tests and make them more accurate.
