IDENTAG-DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL PARTS IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS - IDENTAG

DESCRIPTION

To try to solve this problem of identification and location of parts in an industrial plant, adding as an additional value the traceability that would be obtained at the level of individual element, the project proposes the objective of designing and developing an identification element based on radio frequency. The identification element must be designed in such a way that it can be inserted or adhered to pieces of board or composite materials of wood fibers, paper, cardboard, plaster, plastic, etc. In this case the challenge is to place the element in a non-visible place of the pieces so that it does not alter its aesthetics (for example inserted in the body of the piece, or glued to the edge that is then covered) and it must also be possible to insert or paste automatically at the speed of the process. The reading of these chips can be done several meters away, as long as the antenna is well designed and the assembly is adequately protected.

OBJECTIVES

The general objective of the project is to design and develop an identification system for individual parts based on radiofrequency technology, which can be used in the header processes in an automated way, so that all manufactured parts have individual identification throughout the process of manufacturing. This identification will serve to know the location of the piece and its production status, to communicate with the process machines and to manage the traceability of each piece and the products that are manufactured with them.

As specific objective, the following is proposed:
- Development of a miniaturized radio frequency tag based on a very low cost UHF chip, which can be inserted or pasted automatically inside or on the edges of each piece, so that it is not visible, does not alter the aesthetics of the product and does not it is necessary to remove it to perform any manufacturing process. This insertion would be done in the header process (cutting, sectioning, cutting, etc.) at the time the individual pieces are made.

The result of the project, in addition to identifying each piece and its location, will facilitate Product-Machine communication, so that the tags themselves will “inform” each machine about the adjustments that must be made for each of the individual parts of a launch . Obviously, this will be possible as long as the process supports the automation of its settings.
