"NODOS-TOURISM"

NEW OBJECTS FOR CONNECTED AND SUSTAINABLE CITIES: RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A SMART URBAN OBJECT OF PROTECTION FOR TOURISM

DESCRIPTION

NODOS-TURISMO is a collaborative project aimed at the wood, street furniture, ceramics and information and communication technologies (ICT) industries. The proposed research develops synergies in the functions that the usual products of the ceramic, wood and furniture industry jointly contribute to the Smart City.

Based on the management needs of municipal officials and the habits and needs of tourists who visit a city, the project proposes the design and development of a prototype urban object that integrates functions that respond to several critical dimensions of a City Smart: habitability and quality of life, local economic development and value creation, sustainable infrastructure and governance through efficient public services. This prototype will demonstrate the potential for the use of wood, ceramics and their derived materials, as well as their advantages, in urban objects connected to ICT platforms of Smart Cities. Some examples of urban objects are public furniture, transport stops, signs, luminaires, decorative structures, barriers and bollards, information panels, kiosks, pergolas and exoskeletons of buildings.

NODOS-TURISMO is designed as an opportunity for companies in the wood-furniture and ceramic industries to access the emerging Smart Cities market, which will be a market with high added value in the coming years. It is also proposed to improve the quality of tourist services, especially important for the economy of the Valencian Community. In the development of the project, the respective technical knowledge of AIDIMME and ITC-AICE will be combined in the application of innovative materials and technical functions in industrial products, as well as in the integration of products in last generation ICT platforms.

OBJECTIVES

The general objective of the project is the research and development of a prototype of urban object oriented to tourism, integrable in ICT platforms of Smart Cities or Smart Cities, in which intelligent materials derived from wood and ceramics are used. Some examples of urban objects are public furniture, public transport stops, signs, lighting, decorative structures, barriers and bollards, information panels, fountains, pergolas, public toilets, small pavilions, kiosks and exoskeletons of buildings.

The specific objectives of the project are the following:
1) Propose a solution of interest for strategic industrial sectors of the Valencian Community such as wood-furniture and ceramics, in the search to create alliances that allow the use of resources and know-how of both sectors that results in benefits for their companies.
2) Obtain information on the needs and interests of tourists in the Valencian Community to respond to them through urban objects and Smart Cities own technologies.
3) Use intelligent materials derived from wood and ceramics to develop new business opportunities in the emerging Smart Cities market.
4) Introduce mobile technologies for interactivity between urban objects and their users, while exploring the possibilities of big / small data (generation and analysis of large amounts of digital data, as well as its small-scale exploitation for specific solutions ).
5) To propose innovative technical solutions in eco-efficiency that contribute to a greater generation of value by the industry.
