"MOTIUS"

MOTIUS. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A CHILD ROOM PROTOTYPE FOR THE EDUCATION OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.

DESCRIPTION

MOTIUS (MObles educatIUS) proposes research for the development of a prototype children's room (for children between 4 and 11 years) that helps parents in the education of their children's emotional intelligence at home. The furniture prototype will respond to the current educational needs in the home, proposing an intelligent piece of furniture that interacts with the child for the management of his own emotions (calm down if he has a tantrum, reinforce correct behavior, channel an anger, learn to control fears, etc.) The research associated with the project is aimed at defining solutions specific to emotional psychology, adapting them to the children's educational context and proposing feasible and affordable solutions from the productive and market point of view for furniture and children's leisure manufacturers.

OBJECTIVES

MOTIUS objectives are structured in three areas: 1) the investigation of emotional intelligence solutions applied to children between 4 and 11 years; 2) research and development of environmental intelligence systems that can be integrated into children's furniture; 3) the development of a precompetitive prototype of an educational children's room.

These objectives, in turn, are broken down as follows:

1) Research of emotional intelligence solutions applied to children between 4 and 11 years:

Investigate the needs of mothers and fathers regarding the emotional education of children between 4 and 11 years at home, by identifying problems and difficulties pending resolution.

Identify proposals for action of emotional intelligence that, from the field of psychology, contribute to the education of children between 4 and 11 years.

2) Research and development of integrable environmental intelligence systems in children's furniture:

Investigate environmental intelligence systems that can be integrated into children's furniture that are compatible with the safety and ergonomic requirements of children's users.

Develop environmental intelligence solutions based on electronic systems through sensors and actuators, functions and conditions, for integration into children's furniture, so that they are effective and cost effective for the manufacturer of children's furniture and affordable for the final consumer.

3) Development of a pre-competitive prototype of an educational children's room:

Involve companies in the reference sectors in the development of the project results, as validators from an industrial point of view and as guides from the point of view of market potential.

Develop a precompetitive prototype of children's room furniture that integrates educational functions to help parents educate their children's emotional intelligence.

Validate with companies in the reference sectors the prototype of educational furniture from the point of view of industrial viability and expected market profitability.

Project Number: 21400013
Grant Agreement:
Duration: From 01/01/1900 to 31/12/2014

Coordinated in AIDIMME by: SALES VIVO, VICENTE

RESULTS OBTAINED

Year 2014: At the end of the project there is a set of prototypes of children's room furniture with incorporated technological functions that help the child in their emotional learning:
- bed with good night warning and sensorized lighting
- table with capacitive buttons to review daily activities
- chair with noise sensor
- app with child's emotional diary

The prototypes are permanently displayed at the AIDIMA facilities.
