SIMUPROD 3 COUPLED MULTIPHYSICS SIMULATION




DESCRIPTION

The project will address the study of the flow velocity and pressure field in elements subjected to the action of fluids by means of CFD techniques, using the additional multiphysics approach of fluid-structural coupling FSI, in order to determine and correlate, through physical tests, the structural fatigue stress on the item studied.

OBJECTIVES


SIMUPROD line:
Analyze the state of forces, stresses and deformations that occur in a deformable solid that works under fatigue immersed in a fluid (liquid or gas) or that circulates within it.

Carry out physical laboratory tests to determine, by means of a data correlation analysis, the goodness of the results obtained in the multiphysical analysis.

SOLERGY Line:
Additionally, this year the aim is to monitor relevant information (IIOT), in its context on the phenomena studied.

SIMUPROD line:
The study of different multiphysics cases has enhanced the knowledge and simulation and testing capabilities to analyse the behaviour of elements in a fluid medium and draw conclusions at a structural level. Work has been carried out in two fluid media, air and water, carrying out simulations using CFD software and tests on test benches. Sensors such as strain gauges and load cells have been used to see the similarities and discrepancies between the test carried out and the calculations obtained by multiphysics simulation.
As a result of this research, it has been possible to examine the influence of the different parameters operating in the coupled multiphysics models on the correlation of data with physical laboratory tests. It has also provided a better understanding of the causes and consequences of the natural phenomena involved in the coupling phenomena between different physical fields, which allows for a more realistic estimation of the behaviour of the designs in specific study prototypes.
The implementation of multiphysics simulations complements the work initiated in the SIMUPROD 2 project, continuing the development of the methodology to evaluate, in this case, the calculation method and the experimental method in the analysis of the loads caused by the fluid medium.
The methodologies and knowledge acquired are made available to companies in sectors related to products subject to the action of fluids, which can range from structures such as tanks, wind generators or solar collectors to elements that work in the fluid medium itself, such as boats, fans, hydraulic pumps, etc.

SOLERGY Line:
As for the results linked to information monitoring, a preventive warning system has been developed for vertical outdoor furniture that may be affected by inclement weather. The prototype has been installed on a parasol, using gyroscopic technology that measures the inclination. The system, which operates completely autonomously, is powered by solar energy.
