"AM0 EPSILON" STUDY OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE METAL ALLOYS BY ATOMIZATION AND POWDER BED ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING DESCRIPTION The EPSILON Project aims to validate the feasibility of using advanced materials in demanding industrial environments by optimizing the entire additive manufacturing value chain. The initiative integrates fundamental research on powder atomization for complex alloys, processability studies using powder bed technologies (PBF-LB/M and EB/M) for high-temperature alloys, and metallurgical integrity certification through non-destructive testing that rivals high-intensity powder coating (HIP) post-processing. Finally, the project seeks to demonstrate large-format scaling in pure copper using green laser technology, ensuring structural homogeneity, high conductivity, and three-dimensional accuracy throughout the fabrication volume. OBJECTIVES - Investigate the atomization of advanced materials: Establish the correlation between atomization parameters and the physical-chemical characteristics of the powder (morphology, PSD and flowability) to ensure a raw material of high chemical fidelity and reproducible quality. - Study the processability of high-temperature alloys in PBF: Define the optimal manufacturing windows for commercial powders designed for extreme thermal conditions, certifying critical levels of densification and mechanical strength using PBF-LB/M and PBF-EB/M technologies. - Validate metallurgical integrity and compare the as-built condition with the HIP post-processing: Develop non-destructive inspection (NDT) protocols that certify the quality of the parts in the as-built state, demonstrating that their mechanical properties are competitive against high-cost conventional consolidation processes. - Validate large format scaling in pure copper with green laser: Verify the technical feasibility and homogeneity of the process in large volumes, guaranteeing a density greater than 99.5%, conductivity >100% IACS and stability of mechanical properties on the Z axis.
