"FEDER ENTROMAT" ENTROMAT - DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH ENTROPY MATERIALS WITH HIGH WEAR RESISTANCE DESCRIPTION The main objective of the project is based on the development of new materials using the laser cladding process. Developing this material to an industrially accepted state requires optimal development parameters. The target results are based on a coating with high wear resistance. This forces us to use metallic materials considered refractory, which a priori do not have good compatibility with the base materials, the substrates, which will primarily be structural steels. Possible phenomena derived from excessive rapid cooling can cause surface cracking and defects. Therefore, substrate conditioning or the influence of the heat input of the process itself, along with dilution, may be key to developing a good coating. By obtaining this coating, we will be able to study the influence of this type of material on thermal spray process parameters and the methodologies required to obtain a material by mechanical alloying of highly disordered materials. By characterizing the resulting coating, we will be able to compare the physical and chemical characteristics of these coatings with those currently on the market. OBJECTIVES The specific objectives are: - Obtaining materials with improved wear resistance compared to conventional materials. Obtaining materials capable of withstanding corrosive environments on par with stainless steels, but with improved wear properties. - Obtaining optimal parameters for the thermal projection of HEA materials. - Improvement of the conditions of current coatings based on high-temperature tribological studies. - Development of materials with a higher degree of toughness and resistance than conventional materials, and also the possibility of investigating which mechanisms are most influential in achieving these characteristics. - Identification of the most influential mechanisms in obtaining toughness and strength from these alloys to focus on improvements in subsequent processes.
