AVI PREDATICS - DEVELOPMENT OF AN ADVANCED ICT-BASED SYSTEM FOR PREDICTION AND HEALTH ALERTS DUE TO ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY




DESCRIPTION

The strategic challenge of PREDATICS is to make a great qualitative leap in knowledge of the relationships between pollution, weather conditions, air quality and health, taking advantage of the potential of information and communication technologies (ICT) to predict pollution peaks and provide early warning to citizens, especially those most vulnerable to the impacts caused by pollution, by providing tools to health authorities and public managers.

From an economic perspective, the project seeks to provide Valencian companies with applied scientific and technical knowledge at the forefront of technological advances to promote innovation in the field of health and air quality. The aim is to position companies and research centres in the Valencian Community at the forefront in this field. In addition, it aims to promote the development of a competitive business sector in public health surveillance at a national and European level, which will allow companies to expand their market and benefit a large part of the public in the future.

OBJECTIVES

PREDATICS aims to develop and implement a digital platform for monitoring and predicting urban air quality in the Valencian Community. This digital platform, in the form of a web application, will allow a better understanding of meteorological dynamics and patterns of consumption of health resources associated with peaks in air pollution. It will also serve to generate early alerts for the most vulnerable population. It will be accessible online so that the general population, health centres and other organisations can take effective measures against episodes of high air pollution.

To do this, data on air pollution obtained through satellite data processing and data from air quality stations of the Valencian Network for Monitoring and Control of Atmospheric Pollution will be used. In addition, a network of terrestrial sensors will be deployed in inland municipalities to measure particulate matter, and a passive dosimetry network will be deployed to measure NO2 in the city of Valencia. With this information, a predictive model will be developed that will associate pollution data with meteorological conditions and the use of health resources by patients with respiratory diseases. A generative AI model will also be developed with which users will be able to make queries using natural language.
The proposal aims to contribute through the use of emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), a means to improve the quality of life of the population.
