"FGVA DOP0 - INTERHAPTIC"

FGVA DOP0 - INTERHAPTIC DEVELOPMENT OF A HAPTIC INTERFACE

DESCRIPTION

The project arises from the need to improve industrial processes through advanced digitization tools and introduce digital functionality in new products and developments. For this, an advanced haptic device will be developed to complement the development of digital twins in the field of robotics.

OBJECTIVES

As a general objective of this project, the development of advanced human-machine interfaces (HMI) is proposed, in order to facilitate the interaction and safety of people with the rest of the actors in virtual and real collaborative environments.

• Allow users to communicate naturally with VR environments and robots.
• Allow remote monitoring and control of a robot.
• Promote the participation of the center and companies in national, European and international projects.

Project Number: 22300004
Grant Agreement: IMAMCA/2023/2
Duration: From 01/01/2023 to 31/12/2023

Coordinated in AIDIMME by: MARIN MATEOS APARICIO, LUIS
R&D Line: PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND OPTIMIZATION

RESULTS OBTAINED

Year 2023: The following are considered specific objectives:
• Allow users to communicate in a natural way with VR environments and robots.
• Allow remote monitoring and control of a robot.
• Promote the participation of the center and companies in national, European and international projects.
• Identification and analysis of the center's R&D lines, through the analysis of information and participation in different committees, platforms, work groups and prospective visits to other reference R&D Centers in the field of this R&D line. +D.
Aligned with these objectives, the expected results of the project were defined as follows:
• Analysis of utilities and applications of existing haptic devices
• Definition of the design methodology for haptic devices
• Development of a haptic device to physically interact with virtual reality environments in robotic applications, which can capture the sensation of force.

The results obtained have been the following:
• A methodology has been defined for the design of a haptic device.
• A haptic device has been developed to physically interact with virtual reality environments in robotic applications, which can capture the degree of opening of the hand correlated with the degree of opening of the robot tool and transmit the sensation of contact of this tool with the pieces by means of vibration stimuli in the fingers of the glove depending on the level of contact with the piece.
• A virtual environment has been designed in which you can observe how the robot moves following the movements of the hand captured by the glasses.
• To carry out the movements of the robot in the virtual environment in a way that is as close to reality as possible, 3D modeling has been used, positioning each joint through the inverse kinematics of a UR5 robot, in the same way with the tool.
