ENTROPY - DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH ENTROPY MATERIALS THROUGH THERMAL PROJECTION




DESCRIPTION

The current project is presented due to the current boom in high entropy materials in the various research groups related to metallic materials. The main objective of the project is to obtain high entropy materials in order to evaluate their suitability at an industrial level through the evaluation of the mechanical and thermal properties of the material.

During the execution of the project, it is intended to evaluate the performance of coatings using laser cladding techniques, capable of competing with current materials for both the aeronautical sector and the energy sector, in which materials capable of withstanding high levels are more frequently required. stresses at elevated service temperatures. The appearance of this type of materials supposes a change in the concept known until now of solid solution in metallic alloys, and can suppose a significant advance in the industrial sector as this is shown in the exponential increase of research articles that is taking place in the last years.

OBJECTIVES

The main object of the project is based on the demonstration of the benefits of these new materials through the laser cladding process with powder obtained both by mechanical alloying techniques and by gas atomization. Through obtaining this coating, we will be able to study the influence of this type of materials with respect to the process parameters, and the necessary methodologies to obtain a material by mechanical alloying of materials with high disorder. By characterizing the coating obtained, we will be able to compare the physical-chemical characteristics of said coating with those present on the market.
