"LOGIBLOCK"

LOGIBLOCK - MODULAR PLATFORM FOR THE DEPLOYMENT AND FLEET MANAGEMENT OF AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES AND LOGISTICS ROBOTS IN SMEs

DESCRIPTION

The main objective of the project is the development of a platform (LogiBlock), which facilitates the deployment, planning, management and supervision of fleets of robots and autonomous vehicles in small and medium-sized companies, to carry out logistics tasks in industrial environments.

OBJECTIVES

The LogiBlock platform is based on the following technology enablers:
- Autonomous vehicles and collaborative robots for logistics applications: LogiBlock will integrate with autonomous vehicles and collaborative robots designed to execute logistics tasks in industrial environments. The robots will be able to carry out tasks in the internal logistics of the companies, favoring the automation and efficiency of the processes.
- Supervision and monitoring in the cloud: Logiblock will deploy a set of services in the cloud that will connect the physical elements (robots) with the management and optimization logic, allowing to decouple the control aspects from the operations.
- Fleet management and optimization: LogiBlock will implement services that facilitate the management of the robot fleet, the optimal planning and sequencing of operations, routing and control of operations through indicators. The algorithms and analytical techniques used will be integrated into the applications simply and efficiently using the Function as a Service (FaaS) cloud computing paradigm.
- Blockchain and traceability in the supply chain: LogiBlock will provide traceability of operations using Industrial IoT and blockchain technologies, to facilitate collaboration between the different agents of the supply chain.

RESULTS OBTAINED

Year 2023: The final result of the LogiBlock project has been a platform where industrial companies can control fleets of robots in internal logistics tasks (e.g. picking, inventory, loading and unloading). The platform integrates enabling technologies (UWB low-cost localization, SLAM, HRI, secure navigation in collaborative environments) to implement mobile manipulators, AGVs and collaborative robots for logistics in SMEs, adjusting to their specific needs. These technologies reduce implementation costs and are adapted to work in small spaces in the presence of humans. These devices can be combined with others to configure a modular, versatile and flexible solution capable of automating any logistics task to or from any workstation or warehouse. The implemented algorithms allow you to optimize and control the execution of tasks based on key indicators. Robots can be combined with mobile elements (e.g. carts compatible with AGVs to adapt the load) or additional modules (e.g. scanners for inventory accounting) and portable (e.g. portable arms mounted on portable carts), providing a very flexible solution that is easy to adapt to any environment.
Apart from all the algorithms and developments of the platform itself, it is worth highlighting the clustering actions with regional, national and European DIHs, as well as with associations and technological platforms.
Two demonstrators have been developed, one sectoral with the collaboration of Porcelanosa and another generic in AIDIMME. The Logiblock platform was deployed at the Porcelanosa facilities, along with a robot with navigation and security systems specially adapted for the project. The demonstrator has focused on the robotization and automation of the intralogistics necessary for the transport of samples of semi-finished products and final product from the manufacturing lines to several of the quality control laboratories. As for the generic demonstrator, it has been developed in such a way that it was not only relevant in one sector, but could be transferred to different sectors, focusing the process on supplying production lines or collecting finished products.
