"FGVA - TOX0 AIRTOX" AIRTOX - CONTROL OF EMISSIONS IN THE AIR AND REDUCTION OF TOXICITY IN HABITAT MATERIALS. DESCRIPTION This project presents a study on the reduction of VOC emissions from products and materials. In this sense, controls will be established for air emissions and migrations on food contact surfaces. In turn, we will study the toxicity of fumes in building materials caused by the combustion of fires. OBJECTIVES -Research on the toxicity of habitat materials in its different aspects (indoor air quality, reduction of the toxicity of fumes due to combustion of materials in fires, food contact, etc.), with the aim of developing techniques to minimize their toxicity. -Another objective to highlight is the design of new materials to control the concentration of formaldehyde in emission chambers, establishing uniform standards as a reference. Project Number: 22100008 Grant Agreement: IMAMCC / 2021/1 Duration: From 01/01/2021 to 31/12/2021 Coordinated at AIDIMME by: ZAMORA BLANCO, SECOND R&D Line: MATERIALS TOXICITY RESULTS OBTAINED Year 2022: -In the AIDIMME Indoor Air Quality Laboratory, we have studied several prototypes as possible reference materials with formaldehyde content, one by chemical means and another, through boards derived from wood, specifically medium-density fiber boards (MDF). Studying the stability over time of said materials in emission and entrainment chambers, and taking into account the parameters of humidity, temperature and air renewal. In turn, in this study we have applied UNE EN ISO 12460-3, UNE EN ISO 12460-5, UNE EN 717-1 and ASTM D 6007-14 regulations. -The characterization of the degradation suffered by habitat materials has also been carried out after being exposed to a fire, or to migrations of unwanted chemical substances on food contact surfaces such as packaging. -On the other hand, the method has been developed to know the behavior in the emission of VOCs, of habitat materials as a function of temperature, applying thermogravimetry coupled to gas chromatography analysis (TGA-GC-MS).
