Technological advice is provided on non-destructive evaluation of wood in construction. NDE is essential in heritage, since many buildings are protected and it is not possible to remove elements and take them to the laboratory.

Over the last 10 years, more than 400 properties belonging to the historical heritage have been evaluated and in all of them the wood has been maintained with the reinforcements and treatments proposed by AIDIMME, which are easy to implement on site and economical.

Rehabilitation studies and projects are carried out following the CTE calculation procedures and structural reinforcement solutions are proposed if necessary to comply with the CTE (structural resistance, fire resistance, durability).

We provide advice to public authorities and public and private companies on quality control of wood in new construction, for all types of structures: bridges, walkways, single-family homes, hotels, luxury buildings, large stores, swimming pools, saunas, warehouses, forestry structures, etc. We also prepare technical specifications detailing the species of wood suitable for the project, its resistance class according to the CTE, its treatments, construction designs, etc.

• Visual determination of biotic (xylophagous agents) and abiotic (fire, UV, water) degradation.
• Determination of dimensional instability (breaks, deflections, cracks, etc.).
• Detection of wood-eating insect activity through sound.
• Resistance to penetration-drilling of wood for determining degradation and determining useful section.
• Elasticity and fracture modulus in wood with an ultrasound emission-reception equipment.
• Visual classification of sawn wood for structural use.
• Characterization of structural wooden elements.
• Recommendation of reinforcements and treatments.
• Calculation of the effective section in case of fire.
