Benefits |
- Improved job performance: ability to understand how the corrosivity range of a specific geographical area can be calculated from environmental data of the site.
- Improved job performance: knowledge of the corrosiveness of steel and zinc in different areas of Spain, which will allow you to anticipate the effects of this environment on your product, enabling you to make a more accurate design that provides greater durability throughout its useful life.
- Increased knowledge of the product itself, in terms of requirements that define its corrosion resistance.
- Agility in dealing with clients and suppliers on issues related to corrosion.

Introduction |
In a previous course, we defined what Environmental Corrosivity Categories are and how they are classified (C2, C3, C4, C5) according to their corrosive power. This time, we will focus on studying which of these categories exist in Spain, presenting the results of a study carried out by Aidimme, which produced a corrosivity map of our country. This map classifies different locations across Spain according to their Corrosivity Category for materials such as steel and zinc. |

Addressed to |
Personnel of companies whose products require compliance with corrosion standards: - Quality managers. - Production managers. - Laboratory technicians. - Personnel from other departments whose work is related to defining product specifications, quality requirements and, in general, ensuring the compliance of their products with corrosion specifications. - People interested in these topics. |
Objectives |
- To inform attendees about the Corrosivity Categories that can be found in different locations across Spain, for steel and zinc.
- To understand how the study was carried out in order to classify the different sites, thus learning how to know the Corrosivity Category of any site we need to know.

Content |
The process used to calculate the corrosion range of steel and zinc will be studied in different geographical locations in Spain, including the Valencian Community, and some other locations outside this territory. This will serve as an example for calculating the corrosivity range of any geographical area. The regulatory framework supporting this corrosivity calculation process will be explained.
This corrosion range of the different zones will be related to the Environmental Corrosivity Categories, obtaining a corrosivity map for steel and another for zinc, which allow us to know the characteristics of the environment in which our products will be exposed and help us to define their corrosion resistance requirements.
