Benefits |
- Improved job performance: ability to know and understand the different classified corrosive environments and their relationship to the corrosion of different metallic materials.
- Increased knowledge of the product itself, in terms of requirements that define its corrosion resistance.
- Agility in dealing with clients and suppliers on issues related to corrosion.
|
Introduction |
C2, C3, C4, C5..., we have all seen at some point that our product must comply with this classification, or that the competition complies with it, but what does this mean?
One of the main requirements for metal products, both coated and uncoated, is their resistance to environmental corrosion. Numerous laboratory tests exist for this purpose, each with different characteristics and durations. However, we lack a single, universally applicable requirement because many variables are involved: base material, coating systems, expected lifespan, and environmental conditions of use, both indoors and outdoors. Understanding how different environments are classified according to their corrosivity provides us with the tools to define and define corrosion resistance requirements for our products.

|
Addressed to |
Personnel of companies whose products require compliance with corrosion standards: - Quality managers. - Production managers. - Laboratory technicians. - Personnel from other departments whose work is related to defining product specifications, quality requirements and, in general, ensuring the compliance of their products with corrosion specifications. - People interested in these topics. |
Objectives |
- To inform attendees about the classification of different environments, based on their corrosiveness, supported by international regulations.
- To publicize the corrosion rate of each of these environments for different types of metals.
- To understand how these different corrosivity categories influence the durability of different metal products.
|
Content |
We will work with international standards that define and classify the different categories of environmental corrosivity, understanding their classification, what corrosive power each one has for different metallic materials (steel, zinc, copper...), all supported by different examples of possible "typical" environments for each one.

Professors |
| CANIEGO HARINERO, Mª DEL CARMEN |
|
| Graduated in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Valencia, Carmen Caniego has more than 20 years of experience in the Metrology, Calibration and Corrosion sectors. He is currently Head of the AIDIMME Metrology and Corrosion-Coatings Laboratory and Technical Head of its ENAC accreditation. The close collaboration with companies on a day-to-day basis and their participation in projects over the years have allowed them to acquire applied knowledge in different sectors of our industry. Empathetic, dynamic and communicative, she has the ability to transmit experience and make students understand the content in the most applied way possible. |
