METHODOLOGY OF THE 5 SES: MORE THAN CLEANING THE WORKSTATION AND PAINTING LINES DELIMITING CORRIDORS (3RD EDITION)

Services

The participant will learn to question the validity of their processes and the organization of their current job to identify the waste (what is not necessary) that consumes resources on a daily basis. Second, he will learn the theoretical and practical foundations of a 5-step method (5 eses) to modify his workstation from scratch to achieve the desired efficiency and organization. And finally, you will learn from the teachers experiences of success and failure in the application of the 5 S's methodology, as well as the reasons for said success or failure, which are usually common to many types of company.

Introduction

Within Lean production approaches, the 5 S's methodology should be the first tool to apply and on which to build the company's culture of continuous improvement. Its objective is to achieve efficient and organized workstations. It is based on two basic principles (order and cleanliness) without the need to invest large amounts of money.
Conceptually, the 5S tool does not entail the application of a complex theory. It involves applying 5 steps, each related to a Japanese word that begins with the letter ese (Seiri – Separate; Seiton-Locate, Order; Seiso-Cleaning; Seiketsu-Standardize; Shitsuke-Habit).

But precisely in its simplicity lies one of its barriers when applying it, since it can be tempted to "simplify" the methodology, leaving it only to clean the workplace and "paint lines delimiting corridors" on the floor.
