Introduction

Corrugated cardboard packaging, due to its resistance and sustainability, is widely used by all sectors for the protection and packaging of products during their handling, distribution and storage. As revealed by the figures from FEFCO (European Federation of Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturers), in 2019 more than 23 million tons were marketed in Europe, which represented an increase of 14% compared to the previous year. The food and beverage industry is the main consumer of this type of packaging with approximately 50% of the total produced. In Europe there are 582 production plants that employ approximately 77.000 people.
