Introduction

In general, Polymer Additive Manufacturing technologies are better known because they were the pioneers in this type of process. However, we must not forget that it is possible to obtain metal parts directly with additive technologies that offer great advantages.

- Discover the advantages offered by Additive Manufacturing technologies for metal.
- Know the fundamental characteristics of each one of them, operation, process, materials, applications.
- Understand their limitations that will condition certain aspects in product development.

Contents

1. Introduction to metal Additive Manufacturing technologies: advantages and applications.
2. Powder bed melting technologies: Electron Beam Melting (EBM). Technical explanation of the process and basic operating principles, materials and characteristics of the process and parts.
3. Powder bed fusion technology: Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF). Technical explanation of the process and basic operating principles, materials and characteristics of the process and parts.
4. Practical session to understand both processes in situ: preparation of manufacturing and machine trays, material loading, manufacturing process, extraction and post-processing for finishing the pieces.

MARTINEZ CENICEROS, MARIO
 
Research and development engineer, participating in European and national projects at AIDIMME. Focused on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) and working on various Additive Manufacturing technologies such as EBM, PBF for metals and polymers, SLA, DLP, CFF FFF and LCD. Work to improve additive manufacturing machines due to previous experience in product design, mechanical simulation, and advanced manufacturing technologies. Great connoisseur of the current scenario and evolution of the field of additive manufacturing and its applications. Outgoing and persistent person who faces each challenge as an opportunity for learning and expanding knowledge.
SANJUAN MANZANA, SALVADOR BERNARDO
 
Since 2006 working in additive manufacturing in AIDIMME with FDM and SLA technologies, as well as an expert in vacuum casting. From 2009 and after numerous specialization courses, technician responsible for EBM technology to obtain metal parts. Participation in research projects related to EBM technology. Open person, promoting the active and dynamic participation of students, understandable with any point of view or argument and with a methodology adapted to their needs.
MILLER MALONDA, ALBERTO
 
Thirteen years dedicated to the design of products and their adaptation to be manufactured with additive manufacturing technologies thanks to the acquired knowledge of all the additive manufacturing technologies available at AIDIMME. Technician responsible for PBF (Powder Bed Fusion) technologies for metals and polymers. Active participation in R + D + i projects, and the redesign of products, bringing the advantages of using these additive manufacturing technologies to the general public and the industry in particular. Creative, dynamic and very decisive person.
