Objectives

Corrugated cardboard packaging, due to its resistance and sustainability, is widely used by all sectors for the protection and packaging of products during their handling, distribution and storage. As revealed by the FEFCO (European Federation of Corrugated Cardboard Manufacturers) figures, in 2019 more than 23 million tons were marketed in Europe, representing an increase of 1,4% compared to the previous year. The food and beverage industry is the main consumer of this type of packaging with approximately 50% of the total produced. In Europe there are 582 production plants that employ approximately 77.000 people.

Objectives:
- Know the regulations applicable to the quality control of corrugated cardboard packaging, nationally and internationally.
- Learn to define and interpret technical sheets of corrugated cardboard packaging.
- Adapt the selection and quality criteria of corrugated cardboard packaging according to its end use.

10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Raw materials for the manufacture of corrugated cardboard packaging: component papers, adhesives, inks, etc.
11:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. - Pause
11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. - Manufacturing process of corrugated cardboard packaging.
12:30 p.m. to 14:00 p.m. - Introduction to quality control of corrugated cardboard. Applicable regulations according to use.

09:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. - Elaboration and interpretation of technical sheets: Tests of classification of the component papers.
10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Preparation and interpretation of technical data sheets: characterization tests of corrugated cardboard packaging.
11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. - Pause.
11:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - Preparation and interpretation of technical sheets: International stamps.
12:00 p.m. to 13:30 p.m. - Quality control tests.

MARTÍNEZ MARTÍN, MARIA EVA
 
Mª Eva Martínez is a Doctor in Chemical Sciences from the University of Valencia. She is currently the Head of the AIDIMME Cellulose Materials Laboratory, a technology center where she has spent her entire professional career during which she has specialized in paper and cardboard and packaging. He writes articles in specialized magazines and leads both national and European projects. Furthermore, he regularly collaborates with companies to improve the competitiveness of their knowledge sectors. At the same time, it carries out training and standardization actions, belonging to various committees. She is a member of TAPPI, an association in which she is also part of its Research Committee and has been an expert evaluator of projects of the European Commission since 2000.
MESADO GARRIDO, FRANCISCO JAVIER
 
Francisco Javier Mesado Garrido has a Degree in Chemical Sciences from the University of Valencia. In 2007, he joined the Packaging and Distribution Section of AIDIMME, specializing in packaging materials and packaging for the transport of goods. Since then he participates in research projects at national and European level and collaborates in training and advisory activities for companies.
