AIDIMME / Laboratories / Chemical Analysis

In today's competitive industrial environment, having a leading chemical laboratory is key to ensuring the quality, safety, and regulatory compliance of your products. At AIDIMME, we provide you with a team of experts and advanced technology to offer you customized analytical solutions, aimed at enhancing the value of your products and protecting your reputation in the market.

SERVICES

AIDIMME's Chemical Laboratory provides the following services to companies:

2.1.- RoHS

Through RoHS legislation (Regulation 2011/65, Royal Decree 219/2013 and the amendments introduced by Directive (EU) 2017/2102), it is prohibited to introduce into the European market electrical and electronic equipment (cables, spare parts, etc.) that contain hazardous substances (described in Annex II of the RD), in quantities that exceed the maximum concentration values.

Substances and limits (Annex II)

In this Annex II, the following substances and limits are reflected:

  • Lead (0,1%).
  • Mercury (0,1%).
  • Cadmium (0,01%).
  • Hexavalent chromium (0,1%).
  • Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) (0,1%).
  • Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) (0,1%).
  • Bis(2-ethylexyl) phthalate (DEHP) (0,1%).
  • Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP) (0,1%).
  • Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) (0,1%).
  • Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP) (0,1%).

2.2.- Study of materials intended to come into contact with food

In a world where increasingly new chemical substances are being synthesized to develop new materials, it is vitally important to understand how these substances interact with the foods they contain.

When manufacturing materials intended to come into contact with food, it is essential to communicate to suppliers the need for them to simultaneously supply materials that are also suitable for this purpose, along with the appropriate documentation (declarations of conformity).

AIDIMME's chemical laboratory advises companies on how to work safely in this field, as well as conducting global and specific migration tests to comply with legal limits.

AIDIMME specializes in metal, wood, and paper and cardboard materials intended to come into contact with food. In fact, AIDIMME has its own regulations for metal and wood items intended to come into contact with food: AIDIMME Food Contact Safety Mark:

2.3.- Characterization of wastewater discharges

The laboratory is accredited by ENAC to carry out the characterization tests of industrial discharges detailed in its technical scope no. 13/LE910. It is registered in the register of collaborating entities for water control and monitoring of the Ministry of the Environment and in the register of laboratories approved by EPSAR, as well as in the register of Collaborating Entities for Environmental Quality of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment, Climate Change and Rural Development of the Valencian Community.

2.4.- Release of substances in metal articles intended to come into contact with people

In the Chemistry laboratory, metallic materials intended to come into contact with different parts of the human body are studied. Among them, the following stand out:

  • Nickel release and lead and cadmium content in jewelry items intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin.
  • Release of hazardous substances in contact with various media (Ni, Cd, Pb):
    • Artificial sweat
    • Saliva
    • Gastric juices

2.5.- Characterization of metallic materials, wood and derived wood, and paper and cardboard

AIDIMME has worked in the metalworking, wood, and paper and cardboard sectors since its inception. AIDIMME provides technical support to these sectors in the characterization of materials so they can understand their potential in a market that is increasingly demanding in terms of quality and legal and regulatory compliance.

Examples of material characterization are:

Metalworking sector:

  • Chemical characterization of steels and castings
  • Chemical characterization of aluminum alloys
  • Chemical characterization of copper alloys
  • Chemical characterization of zinc alloys
  • Chemical characterization of titanium alloys
  • Chemical characterization of special alloys
  • Characterization of alloys and their coatings

Wood and furniture sector:

  • Wood preservatives: Propiconazole, tebuconazole, permethrin, cypermethrin, IPBC, cyproconazole
  • Creosote content
  • Pentachlorophenol content (CEN/TR 14823)
  • Primary aromatic amine content
  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content
  • PFAS and PFOAS content
  • Solvent content (ISO 11890-2)
  • Heavy metal content
  • Migration of certain elements (UNE-EN 71-3)
  • Vinyl chloride (UNE EN 12149-1998)
  • Melamine content

Paper and cardboard sector

  • Primary aromatic amines
  • Chloropropanols
  • metals
  • Formaldehyde
  • Bisphenol A
  • Bisphenol S
  • Benzophenone
  • 4,4-bis aminobenzophenone
  • Phthalates
  • etc.

Other requested essays

  • Determination of flash points or flammability of mixtures
  • Viscosities
  • Densities
  • Granulometries
  • Metal content in oils
  • Lubricants
  • Analysis designed for the revaluation of by-products and waste

2.6.- Precious metals

The precious metals hallmarking laboratory is assisted by the chemical laboratory, which determines the purity of the different precious metals being hallmarked.

The laboratory has ENAC accreditation No. 13/LE138 for the determination of the purity of gold (cupellation), silver (titration) and platinum (X-ray fluorescence).

The accredited tests are shown below.

2.7.- Analysis of defects-production problems

Thanks to AIDIMME's extensive knowledge of materials in these three sectors, companies can rely on the experience of AIDIMME's technical specialists to resolve various problems or defects that arise in everyday industrial production.
