"FEDER WOODBYSAT" WOODBYSAT - DEVELOPMENT OF ANALYSIS METHODS, NON-DESTRUCTIVE AND BY REMOTE SENSING, FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF THE EXPLOITATION AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF PINUS HALEPENSIS WOOD DESCRIPTION The objective of this project is the study and evaluation of adult stems (with the possibility of logging for quality wood uses such as structural use), of the most representative pine in the Valencian Community, Pinus halepensis (Aleppo pine), through through non-destructive methods and remote sensing, to know the quality of the wood before cutting the tree, and in this way to economically value said species, demonstrating its potential, promoting a use of wood, through sustainable management that directly reduces the number of forest fires. OBJECTIVES The general objective of the project consists of studying and evaluating adult stems of Pinus halepensis (pine, Aleppo pine, a representative species of the pines of the Valencian Community), in order to promote a quality timber use (such as the structural use ), revealing the quality of their wood before cutting the tree, through innovative methods of non-destructive evaluation and remote sensing. Knowing the quality of the wood promotes the logging of masses that currently do not have any type of management in this area, favoring the state of forest masses, their plant health, vigor, biodiversity, etc. and, above all, its response to forest fires.
