"ROBOTRACK"

ROBOTRACK - DEVELOPMENT OF AN AUTOMATED SYSTEM FOR GENERATION OF COMPLEX TRAJECTORIES IN ROBOTS BASED ON LEARNING BY DEMONSTRATION

DESCRIPTION

The project proposes to advance in the development of techniques that allow speeding up the programming of robots by applying Learning by Demonstration techniques based on the results obtained in a previous project (COLEARNING 4.0 - Development of learning techniques for COBOTS based on human interaction and learning of reinforcement. IMDEEA/2020/22), in which the robot was able to reproduce movements and pressures previously performed by a person, although in an approximate way and with a manual treatment of the captured data.
To delve into this automatic programming technique, the main objective of the project is to develop a learning-by-demonstration system for collaborative robots, based on an artificial vision system and sensors external to the robot, which allows complex tasks to be accurately reproduced immediately. after the human demonstration, using artificial intelligence algorithms for trajectory modeling and task execution.

OBJECTIVES

This project tries to take a further step in the development of systems that simplify the programming of collaborative robots. For this reason, the main objective of the project is to develop a learning-by-demonstration system for collaborative robots, based on an artificial vision system and sensors external to the robot, which allows complex tasks to be reproduced quickly after human demonstration, using intelligence algorithms. artificial for trajectory modeling and object recognition.
The following are the specific objectives:
- Development of an HMI interface to automate the capture of work sequences of the expert staff that performs the tasks to be reproduced, using the appropriate vision elements and sensors
- Development of the self-learning robotic system platform as an autonomous system, which is capable of calculating trajectories and transferring data to the robot control in a real manufacturing environment from the captured sequences
- Carry out a demonstration pilot to validate the developments carried out, taking as a use case the assembly of a product in collaboration with an expert person or another operation of similar complexity.

Project Number: 22200073
Grant Agreement: IMDEEA / 2022/9
Duration: From 01/07/2022 to 30/09/2023

Coordinated in AIDIMME by: SÁNCHEZ ASINS, JOSÉ LUIS
R&D Line: INDUSTRY 4.0

RESULTS OBTAINED

Year 2023: A system has been developed that allows a simple and intuitive way to generate a robot program based on the initial demonstration of an expert operator in the manual execution to be automated.
The evaluations carried out by the collaborating companies in the project have provided valuable information about the actions and activities to be developed to bring the initial prototype closer to the needs of the market in terms of robot programming through human demonstration.
In view of the results obtained, the Robotrack system has been shown as a prototype of
demonstration learning technology capable of facilitating the programming of robots to
sanding processes for flat parts. A single operator in a period of between 5-10 minutes can
generate, without prior knowledge of robot programming, a valid program for the
robot model that will be in charge of automating the task.
