"FGVA FA0 - ALPHA" ALFA - STUDY OF NEW SOLUTIONS FOR THE ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY. DESCRIPTION Contribute to increasing excellence in advanced additive manufacturing, to improve networking and reduce technological deficiencies, significantly reinforcing the excellence and capacity for innovation of research in this field by improving applications, technologies as well as in the processing of materials. OBJECTIVES • The project will address the study of the processability of a Titanium Matrix Composite (TMC) using additive manufacturing techniques based on a powder bed. This material was developed in the European NANOTUN3D project led by AIDIMME. • Study of new product design concepts, using specific advanced software, for the creation of complex three-dimensional structures and their applicability to products or tools manufactured with additive manufacturing technology. • Prospective study for the identification of new metal additive manufacturing technologies with industrial potential. • Promote the participation of the center and companies in European and international projects. • Identification and analysis of the center's R&D lines, through the analysis of information and participation in different committees, platforms and working groups. Project Number: 22200003 Grant Agreement: IMAMCA/2022/2 Duration: From 01/01/2022 to 31/12/2022 Coordinated in AIDIMME by: BLASCO PUCHADES, JOSE RAMON R&D Line: ADDITIVE MANUFACTURE RESULTS OBTAINED Year 2022: • Processed in powder bed laser technology a Titanium Matrix Composite (TMC) with SiC nanoparticles in large format particles, where preliminary process conditions have been obtained with good densification, but with high levels of cracking that must be studied to advance the use of these materials in industrial processes. • Study of the applicability of different complex structures, to obtain the maximum benefit from additive manufacturing; and innovative solutions are valued such as the study of structures with implicit (mathematical) models, “conformal” type models that adapt to complex geometries and that allow the creation of graded structures, stochastic structures that emit foams similar to shapes natural and creation of structures through topological optimization based on loading conditions. • Study and update the knowledge of personnel in additive manufacturing, where the emergence of low-cost technologies for multiple, classically high-cost technologies is valued. This fact provides an approach for the manufacturing industry to these technologies to manufacture products and tools. Additionally, highlight the combination that is taking place in the additive manufacturing industry, with robotics, to automate additive manufacturing. • Development of demonstrators to bring additive manufacturing closer to companies, to awaken their interest in improving their processes and products. • Participation in fairs to promote additive manufacturing technologies and the center's participation in new R&D projects has been enhanced.
