The main problem initially posed was the choice of the simulant for dry contact. In Regulation 10/11 on plastic materials, the simulant Tenax was selected for this type of contact and the migration study of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). However, formaldehyde is a VOC with different properties and different regulations use DNPH to capture it in the gas phase. For this reason, it has been studied and it has been proven that DNPH determines formaldehyde in the gas phase with higher yields than Tenax. As a final result, a method has been obtained for the determination of formaldehyde migration in wood materials based on DNPH as a simulant under the conditions described in the final internal procedure. 2.- Study of combustion fumes in fireproof materials The study of the gases emitted in simulated combustion has begun according to standardized methods (UNE-EN ISO 5659-2018 and UNE-EN 45545-2:2013+A1:2016) in selected wood samples (pine, MDF and plywood). : treated and untreated). Tenax adsorbent has been used to capture organic emissions and subsequently desorb them in Thermodesorption equipment and inject them into the gas chromatograph (GC-MS) for identification and quantification. After the analysis of the results obtained, a dispersion of these (values ​​and identified compounds) is observed, attributed to the heterogeneity of the matrix. It is concluded to continue with the study of emissions from materials in treated wood. 3.- Fluorescent whiteners, azo dyes and haloanisoles in paper and cardboard products The study of fluorescent brighteners, azo dyes and haloanisols in paper and cardboard products has begun. In most of them (fluorescent whiteners and haloanisoles) there are no regulations developed for this type of matrix or they are not very selective, and the existing regulations (azo dyes) pose some analytical problems. Tests have been carried out and analytical methods have been defined. Improved analytical methods have been achieved in all cases.
