REFOC - EXISTING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE BEHAVIOR OF MATERIALS TO FIRE REACTION AND THE BEHAVIOR OF PRODUCTS, BUILT WITH SUCH MATERIALS, TO RESISTANCE TO FIRE




DESCRIPTION

The project seeks to investigate the relationships between the behavior of materials to the reaction to fire and the behavior of products, built with these materials, to fire resistance. For this, in addition to experimental reaction and resistance analysis, taking into account, in addition, a series of basic properties of the materials, a behavior modeling will be carried out that helps estimate the fire resistance from a certain composition of the same and of the classification against the reaction of its materials.

OBJECTIVES

The project seeks to investigate the relationships between the behavior of materials to the reaction to fire and the behavior of products, built with these materials, to fire resistance. For this, in addition to experimental reaction and resistance analyzes, taking into account, in addition, a series of basic properties of the materials, a behavior modeling will be carried out to help estimate the fire resistance from a certain composition of the same and of the classification against the reaction of its materials.
Since fire resistance analyzes are very long, difficult to prepare by the manufacturer, as well as expensive, having knowledge of the relationship proposed by the project can facilitate obtaining the necessary information that the manufacturer must provide to the builders to place their products in buildings. In this way, more competitive products would be achieved, since the cost of resistance analysis is not negligible and must be borne by the sale price.
Likewise, as the performance of the resistance analysis involves a high time and cost, it is a fact that the information of the products given by the manufacturer is based, in many occasions, on theoretical speculations from results of resistance of products somewhat similar, so the reliability of the results offered is not as desired. The results of this project would also increase the reliability of the information provided by the manufacturer.

Therefore, the general objectives are:
- increase knowledge to obtain relationships between the reaction to fire and the fire resistance of products
- obtain a modeling of the behavior of products against fire based on their composition and geometry
- increase the competitiveness of construction products that use the results of the project
- increase the reliability of the documentation information provided for these products in relation to their fire behavior
