"WOODPLASTFOC 18-19" WOODPLASTFOC - IMPROVING THE IGNIFOUS PROPERTIES OF WOOD AND PLASTIC COMPOSITE MATERIALS (WPC) ACCORDING TO ITS FINAL USE DESCRIPTION The general objective of the project is the development of new wood and plastic composite products (Wood Plastic Composite - WPC), improved through the use of fire retardant additives, in order to offer fire-fighting performance, improved and adapted to the final conditions of use In the market there are no WPC products with high behavior against fire, due to the idiosyncrasy of its components, especially plastic, with a high tendency to flammability and dripping, which can cause the easy spread of the fire. In addition, the incorporation of flame retardant additives presents an important challenge in plastic materials since these, in most cases, highlighting PVC and others used in the manufacture of WPC, are formulated with a multitude of additives that give them other mechanical qualities and physical properties for the possible applications of this type of products (durability to aging and humidity, durability to biological agents, thermal properties, sliding, bending, creep, etc ...). OBJECTIVES O.1. Determination of the influence of different types of additives (or combination) on the final qualities of WPC products. O.2. Development of new WPC products improving performance against fire without compromising other qualities. O.3. Obtaining a correlation between methods of reaction to fire to have a prediction tool. O.4. Establishment of requirements depending on the final conditions of use of the product manufactured in WPC. O.5. Characterization and comparison of WPC products with the new specific regulations for WPC.
