"INTERSEAT 18-19"INTERSEAT - DEVELOPMENT OF IMPROVED QUALITY AND SAFETY SYSTEMS, IN SEAT AND REST FURNITURE, AS WELL AS ITS MATERIALS, TO INCREASE ITS COMPETITIVENESS DESCRIPTIONThe complexity of the regulatory and market processes means that manufacturers do not know how to evaluate their products to get into new markets, ensure their permanence in those already in place and improve their positioning in front of their competitors. All these needs are decisive to maintain and increase the furniture industry in Spain and the Valencian Community, because it is a deep-rooted industry, with infrastructures of great experience and that moves a considerable number of employees. OBJECTIVESThe general objective is to provide our companies with improvement procedures for their seating and rest products, which allows them to enter certain target markets. As well as, obtain detailed and specific information on the requirements that your products must meet in the different existing markets. RESULTS OBTAINEDAño 2019: Year 2019: - The emission of VOCs from mattresses was generally low. However, the Valencian mattresses analyzed, could not obtain the European Ecolabel certification, because their formaldehyde emissions are higher than those required. On the other hand, they would comply with the US CertiPUR-US® certification, with a maximum concentration allowed for formaldehyde greater than the Ecolabel.
Year 2019: - The results of the mattresses against fire were not good in general, the mattresses would not meet the European standard UNE-EN 597-1 and 2, producing significant combustion when the source of ignition is a gas flame, mainly. Nor could they be classified as “medium hazard” according to the British standard BS 6807: 2006. However, in the study of the American standard 16 CFR-1632, as the required cigarette ignites less and its combustion is slower, it is less demanding and the mattresses would pass the requirements without complications.
Year 2019: - Regarding the quality of the mattresses, the European standard UNE EN 1957_2013 was applied, and was first developed in AIDIMME, acquiring and adapting the equipment, the American standard ASTM F1566-14. The quality studies of the mattresses, applying both regulations obtained good results.
2019 Year: This concludes that Valencian mattresses, in general, must make improvements in the composition of the mattress components in order to improve fire behavior and formaldehyde emissions.
Year 2019: - Regarding the beds, the assessment procedures were applied following the European standard UNE EN 1725_1998, for the Spanish and European market, and the recently published international ISO standard ISO 19833:2018.
